Tribal Jewellery
Ancient art and craft are conserved in original structure by the tribal people. It is known as tribal jewelry. Tribal jewelry is the art and craft of ancient people. Most attractive jewellery is made by tribes. Many raw materials like bone, clay, wood, shells, crude metals are involved in making of tribal jewelry. Number of tribes is found in India with their own style of crafting jewelry.
Bastar - Jewellery is made out of cane, grass and beads. Traditional ornaments of Baster are made up of silver, wood, glass, peacock feathers, wild flowers and copper are very popular.
Banjara - These tribes can identify by their heavy weight and colorful jewelry. They used to make ornaments with shells, coins, beads etc.
Rajasthan tribal jewelry: In Rajasthan silver tribal jewelry is very prominent. They have a wonderful collection of bangles, anklets, bracelets, hairpins and necklace.
Khasi, Jaintia and Garo - Tribes from Meghalaya used to wear an exclusive type of jewellery. They are Red Coral bead necklace and thin stem like glass strung made by thread of Garo tribe.
Bhutia - They are the tribes from Sikkim, jewelry are made up of coral, turquoise, silver, zee stone and gold.
Arunachal Pradesh Tribal Jewellery - Jewelry made up of cane and bamboos are very famous in Arunachal Pradesh and also they use silver, bone, ivory, brass, gold jewelry. Women belong to Karka Gallong used to wear heavy iron rings.
